Surkhet District is a district of  Bheri Zone, administrative headquarters of this district is Birendranagar, situated in Mid-Western Development Region of Nepal. It is situated in the height of 198 meters to 2347 meters from sea level and its area is 2451 square kilo meters. Total population of this district is 350,804 according to census 2068 B.S. (2011 A.D.). Main profession of the residents in this district are agriculture, joba and business. Its agricultural land is 24705 hectare there are 50 village development committees that are Lagam, Betam, Bijaura, Guthu, chhapre, Bidhyapur, Ghatgaon, Salkot, Babiyachour. Tatopani, Pokharikanda, Kunathari, Taranga, Haripur, Lekhgaon, Gadhi, Uttarganga, Latikoili, Lekhparajul, Jarbuta. Ratudevisthan, Garpan, Satakhani, Kalyanpur, Ramghat, Chhinchu, Matela, awalching, Pamka, Neta, Rajhena. Ghoreta, Ranibas, Kaphalkot, agrigaon, bajedichour, rakam, Khanikhola, Dandakhali, Kaprichour, Ghumkhahare, Gumi. lekfarsa, Dasarathpur, Dahachour, Dharapani, Maintara, Mehalkuna, Sahare, Malarani and a Birendranagar Municipality.  Main residents of this district are Magar Bramhin, Chhetri, Thakuri, Kami etc.
