Jhapa District is a district of Mechi Zone, administrative headquarters of this district is Chandragadhi, situated in Eastern Development Region of Nepal. It  is situated in the height of 60 meters to 381 meters from sea level and covers an area 1606 square kilometers. Total population of Jhapa district is 812,650 according to census 2068 B.S. (2011 A.D.). Main profession of the residents in this district are business trade and agriculture. Its agricultural land is 98048 hectare,  there are 47 Village development committees that are Shantinagar, Bahundangi, Khudunabari, Budhabare, Dhaijan, Sanischare, Arjundhara, Surunga, Satasidham. Dharampur, Topgachi, Lakhanpur, Maharanijhod, Gauradaha, Juropani, Kohabara, Khurgachi, Gaurigunj, Korobari. Baigundhara, Shivgunj, Panchgachhi, Mahabhara, Kumarkhod, Tangandubbha, Sharanamati, Gherabari, Rajgadh, Goldhap. Chacheki, Dangibari, Goldhap, Charpane, Ghailadubba, Anarmani, Duwagadi, Jayarmigadi, Garamani, Chandragadi. Haldibari, Maheshpur, Prithivinagar, Jalthal, Patheria, Baluwadi, Baniyani, Pathamari, Kechana  and  3 Municipalities in Jhapa district that are  Damak Municipality, Mechinagar Municipality and Bhadrapur Municipality. Main residents of this district are Bramhin, Chhetri, Rajbanshi, Limbu and Rai etc.
