Mugu District is a district of  Karnali Zone, administrative headquarters of this district is Gamgadhi, located in Mid-Western Development Region of Nepal. It is situated in the height of 1524 meters to 7045 meters from sea level and its area is 3535 square kilometers. Total population of Mugu district is 55,286 according to census 2068 B.S. (2011 A.D.). Main profession of the residents in this district are jobs, business trade and agriculture. Its agricultural land is 6,268.4 hectare  there are 24 village developments committees that  are Mugu, Dolfu, Kimari, Pulu, Mangri, Rowa, Pina, Ruga, Karkiwada, Shreenagar, Rara, Khaumale, Sheri, Kalai, Jingm, Fatu, Nathrpu, Mihi, Dhain, Hyanglu, Kotdanda, Sukhadhiki, shreekot, gumba. There is not any Municipality in this district. Main residents of this district are Chhetri, Thakuri, Bramhin etc. Rara lake is the main touristic destination of this district. many travelers from around the world visit this area to see its natural beauty.
